Start on Stingray Creek Bridge assessments

Port Macquarie-Hastings Council is now proceeding with a detailed environmental assessment of the preferred location for the replacement of the Stingray Creek Bridge at North Haven.

Council adopted the preferred route for the replacement of the bridge during December 2007. Consultants Maunsell Pty Ltd have now been engaged by Council to prepare an Environmental Impact Study for the bridge replacement.

Councils Technical Services Manager, Cliff Toms said, “The study will involve the undertaking of very comprehensive environmental assessments, further consultations with the community and key stakeholders and reporting of the outcomes.”

“Completion of the studies is expected during early 2009 followed by submission of a Development Application to obtain the necessary environmental approvals for the project.”

“Once the environmental approvals are obtained Council will review the timing of bridge replacement in consultation with the community and project funding partners, the Roads & Traffic Authority,” Mr Toms said.

Further information will be provided next month to the community in relation to the study details and how the community can be involved as part of the initial information gathering for the project.
