Community garden is bloomin’ lovely

ALL are invited to attend the reopening and refurbishment of the Kendall School and Community Garden on Sunday, August 3.

The event will commence at 10am in the garden, located off Raymond Street Kendall, and aims to showcase the work of students, members of the community, and work for the dole participants. A free barbecue will follow.

Vice president of the P&C and garden coordinator, Peter Nash, said without last years Federal Government grants the garden would not exist as it does today.

“We would like to thank the Australian government because the refurbishment would not have been possible without the grants,” Mr Nash said.

“We received $3,000 for equipment and $17,383 for water tanks and irrigation which will lessen the impact on the town’s water supply.

“I’m hoping parents will bring their kids along to the opening so they can see what a great job they have done,” he said.

Vegetables from the garden are sold every Thursday from the Kendall Community Centre.
